University of Manchester Biosciences and Healthcare Summer Schools

University of Manchester Biosciences and Healthcare Summer Schools

About the event

Aim and objectives

Students will choose a pathway, either biosciences or healthcare, to focus on. We aim to raise awareness of the variety of fields within healthcare and biosciences to hopefully allow students to make an informed decision for their university choices. Students will have the opportunity to take part in hands-on workshops, taster lectures and career sessions related to their chosen pathway. They will also get a chance to meet current students and professionals in these areas. Students who complete 80% or more of the programme will also receive a certificate of completion.

The programme will run from Monday 30th June to Friday 4th July. Students will be expected to attend the university from 9.30am to 3pm each day.

Pathways

  • The bioscience pathway will introduce students to a wide range of field including cell biology, neuroscience, immunology, genetics and biochemistry.
  • The healthcare pathway will include sessions on nursing, midwifery, public health, psychology, optometry, speech therapy and pharmacy (no medicine or dentistry)
