Social media is now a norm for finding jobs and progressing in a career. But how many young people know about the digital footprint they create and what may come back to haunt them?

This session will equip young people with understanding what their digital footprint is and how useful and/or unsafe technology can be depending on how it’s used. We’ll explore a range of social media platforms, and students will understand the importance of effectively managing their social media and keeping safe. We touch upon the influence of social media content on employers’ decision-making towards candidates applying for jobs and provide advice on how to create a positive and professional social media profile.

Session 1 – up to an hour

Session 2 – 30 mins. Learners create their LinkedIn profiles. Computer suite required (only available for post-16)

Following the session, learners will be able to identify personal qualities, strengths and attributes that are required to realise future ambitions and demonstrate increased resiliance.

GM Higher will need to record participation of learners in line with our funding requirements, so we will ask you to provide a register.
