Stay Local, Go Further

Stay Local, Go Further is a half day campus visit, introducing young learners to studying higher education (HE) in a further education (FE) institution setting and supporting them to make that seamless transition into HE.

This event is tailored to allow learners to gain an alternative experience of the HE setting, which may suit their individual needs. With smaller class sizes, FE institutions can offer a more personal, one-to-one, approach to learning and support. Studying in a FE setting might also be a more local and convenient option to university and can be more affordable than going further from home to study.

Learners will gain an understanding of the qualification options available to them and the benefits of studying in a FE institution through interactive workshops and meeting current students. The campus tour will allow learners to experience the vibrant energy and college community, making them feel at home. We provide exposure to industry standard equipment and facilities, which enhance and support learners future career prospects. This event highlights the importance of GCSEs in the learner’s educational journey, and will give the confidence to make informed decisions for their future.

This is a half day campus visit – am or pm with flexible timings to suit your needs (please specify on the enquiry form).

Salford City College, University Centre (SCC)
UCEN Manchester
University Campus Oldham (UCO)

Please note we require 4 weeks notice and lunch is not provided.

GM Higher will need to record the participation of learners in line with our funding requirements, so we will ask you to provide a register.
