Mission: HE

Mission: HE is an established project which focuses specifically on white working-class male students, a demographic identified as a group of pupils who would benefit from role model-focused interventions in order to help them imagine a future for themselves within education beyond school age.

5 Key Sessions

1. Icebreakers / Programme Outline
   Get to know us, our programme and what we can do for your pupils!
2. Distraction / Academic Skills
   An engaging session which builds in revision skills utilising skittles and M&Ms
3. Further / Higher Education Workshop
   A chance to map your learners’ pathways through the remainder of school and beyond
4. The Chase (Consolidation Activity)
   Take part in all things ‘The Chase’ with pupils competing for a prize of up to £10
5. All Things Future (Focus on the careers of the future)
   As we draw to a close, learners will think about the job market and how it will impact them
6. Optional On-Campus Session
   Should you wish your learners can visit a university for either a half or full day, taking part in a campus tour and their very own graduation from the project!

All interested schools must be able to adhere to the following conditions:

• Agree to have a staff member present at any/all sessions at all times (non-negotiable).
• Honour all five sessions so the pupils benefit from the full project as intended.
• Run the programme in school time.
• Get involved in the sessions and assist with pupil engagement.

Failure to adhere to the above may result in us cancelling the project.

Mission: HE is run by The University of Salford in partnership with The University of Bolton.

GM Higher will need to record the participation of learners in line with our funding requirements, so we will ask you to provide a register.
