In2STEM Programme

In2STEM Programme

About the event

The In2STEM programme empowers young people to achieve their potential in STEM. In summer 2023, the programme supported over 800 students with the help of volunteers from leading universities and companies across all STEM disciplines.

The 2024 programme is free and matches Year 12 or S5/S6 (or equivalent) students from low-income and disadvantaged backgrounds with STEM professionals. The experience provides students with the skills, knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions about their future.

The programme consists of:

  • A one or two week in-person work experience placement
  • Online skills, employability and careers workshops
  • Public engagement competitions
  • Student inductions and celebration events
  • A bursary to cover travel and lunch costs

Interested students can apply by filling in the Application Form by 3 March 2024. Students must meet the eligibility criteria to get shortlisted.

Programme activities will take place between Monday 22 July and Friday 23 August 2024. Students will be provided with a bursary and all in-person events will be held within commuting distance of where students live.

For students living in areas where placements are not currently accessible, In2STEM Online will be offered instead. The virtual programme includes online mentoring sessions and provides access to the workshops and competitions.

A resource pack is available on their schools webpage.

For an informal discussion about the programme and/or supporting the young people you work with to apply, please email the In2STEM team at students@in2scienceuk.org.
