Campus Visit for Under-represented Groups

Campus Visit for Under-represented Groups

About the event

Our partner HE providers are delighted to offer bespoke campus visits for learners in Year 7 – 13 from under-represented groups.

These events provide the opportunity for learners to visit a university or college campus and gain an insight into HE.

Being a bespoke campus visit, it allows the session to be tailored to specific requirements for the learners and can include a campus tour with current students, a workshop, a practical activity, and information about HE options and student finance.

Under-represented groups are defined as:

  • students with a disability
  • students with care experience
  • young carers
  • students estranged from their families
  • students from Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities
  • refugees and asylum seekers
  • students from military families

Visits can be for individuals or groups and young people must be accompanied by an adult.

When making a booking enquiry, please specify in ‘further information’ which higher education institution you are interested in visiting and we will ensure it gets to the relevant team.

GM Higher will need to record the participation of learners in line with our funding requirements, so we will ask you to provide a register.

All resources/handouts are provided by GM Higher. Ideally, this would be booked as the first in three exam workshops for Y11. It is also a standalone workshop. Workshop Details: Year group: 11 Group size: one class at a time Length: 45-60 mins Delivery method: In-person is preferable, but virtual delivery can also be arranged and streamed into multiple classrooms if this is the only way it fits into the timetable. GM Higher will need to record the participation of learners in line with our funding requirements, so we will ask you to provide a register.
