A Day in the Sky (15/10/24)

In this session, learners will be given an insight into the aviation sector, through a visit to the educational centre Aerozone at Manchester Airport.

Learners will take part in practical activities from roleplay to hearing from experienced professionals within the aviation sector who have higher education (HE) qualifications. The day will include a session which outlines HE pathways leading to work within the aviation sector.

Learners could take part in any of the below activities:

• Cabin staff role-play scenarios
• Pre-flight safety demonstrations
• Emergency evacuation procedures
• Cockpit – flight simulator
• STEM zone – engineering challenge
• Operations, marshalling, science of flight
• Customer service (check-in) role-play scenarios
• Security
• Air traffic control monitoring

The day also includes elements of curriculum learning of Maths, English, Science and History.

Learners will understand the importance of their GCSEs for future options, gain an understanding on further and higher education qualifications and benefits, increase knowledge around student finance and explore career options within aviation through guest speakers working in the industry.

GM Higher will need to record the participation of learners in line with our funding requirements, so we will ask you to provide a register.
