Insight into Social Work

About the event

**We’re currently unable to take further bookings for this activity, please speak to your Hub Manager for other activities we can offer.**

What’s it like to be a social worker?

Students can discover what a career in challenging, yet rewarding situations is like, working in ways that promote equality, diversity and social justice, and making a real difference to people’s lives.

In this session, students will:

  • Increase their knowledge of career options through interacting with a current practising Social Worker.
  • Hear about what motivated them to become a Social Worker and explore their educational journey and the daily life of a Social Worker.
  • Gain an insight into the skills required for a career in social work through real life case study scenarios and Q&A session.
  • Understand Level 3 and higher education qualifications required to work in social work including the importance of GCSE’s.

After the session, learners will have increased capacity to make informed decisions about their future.

This is a one-hour session.

**Please note, as this session is ran by a current Social Work, we may need to cancel or rearrange at short notice due to responsibilities of the role.**

GM Higher will need to record the participation of learners in line with our funding requirements, so we will ask you to provide a register.
