Destination HE – Y10 Campus Visit

This campus experience gives your learners the opportunity to visit a university or college campus to gain an insight into the different study options available through further and higher education (HE). During the day your learners will take part in an information, advice and guidance session outlining the pathways to HE and the benefits of HE, go on a campus tour and work collaboratively with peers to create a society. 

Participating in these activities will allow learners to:

• Recognise the different study routes available in further and higher education
• Connect their current GCSE choices to potential future study options.
• Identify key benefits of HE.
• Understand about life as a HE student.

This session also aims to increase learners’ aspiration and motivation to achieve well in school and provide learners with a greater sense of belonging in HE.

Visit details

Institutions: These visits take place at the larger institutions in Greater Manchester (The University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University, University of Salford and University of Bolton). Specific dates are listed below, however some institutions are happy to arrange campus visits on request.

Group size: 15-60 (depending on institution). Please note, depending on group size, there might be multiple schools attending the same campus visit.

EDI insight session: The University of Manchester have an option to add an EDI insight session to the visit, making it a full day activity. You can choose from: black history, women’s history, refugee and asylum seeker history and LGBTQ+ history (subject to academic availability). Please specify which topic you’d like when making a booking enquiry in ‘further information’ and we’ll do our best to accommodate this.

*If you choose not to have an EDI insight session added on to your campus visit, the day will finish at approximately 12:30. 

When making a booking enquiry, in ‘further information’ please specify the date, which higher education institution you’re interested in visiting (adding your chosen EDI session for The University of Manchester, if applicable) and we’ll ensure it gets to the relevant team. Please note some institutions may be fully booked but we’ll try and find alternative arrangement.

GM Higher will need to record the participation of learners in line with our funding requirements, so we will ask you to provide a register.
