Open Days in Greater Manchester

The first open days of the academic year are just around the corner and unlike last year we will see the return of some on-campus open days.

There are a range of Higher Education Institutions across Greater Manchester getting ready to open their physical and virtual doors for you over the coming months. So, read ahead and find the right open day for you!

The University of Manchester

The University of Manchester will be running a blended approach to their open days. If you would like to explore the university campus, you can now book onto an in-person campus tour. The tour will last for 45 minutes and will offer access to a small number of buildings such as the Students Union and Learning Commons. However, due to current restrictions the tours will not include academic departments and accommodation.

  • 6th-9th October 2021

Manchester Metropolitan University

The Manchester Metropolitan University will be hosting their open days on-campus. Attendees will be able to explore the Manchester Met University campus, hear talks on student finance, accommodation and chat with current students and academics.

The University of Salford

The University of Salford will also be hosting their next open day on-campus, and by attending you will be able to learn and explore all things Salford. The open day will allow you to explore all three campuses (Peel Park, MediaCityUK and Frederick Road).

The University of Bolton

The University of Bolton are offering attendees the chance to attend either virtually or in-person. Once you book onto the open day, you will receive an email asking how you would like to attend and if you would like a morning or afternoon slot.

Top Tips for Open Days

When attending an open day here are some tips to maximise your experience:
• Attend at least one or two subject talks, sample lectures, taster sessions or department visits.
• Attend finance and application talks where available, find out if there are any bursaries or financial support you could be eligible for
• Make sure to talk to student ambassadors where you can.
• Take a tour of the campus, accommodation, and The Student’s Union. This will give you an insight on what life on campus is like.
• Try to find out about the different types of accommodation if you are thinking of moving away. There may be a mix of catered, ensuite or shared bathrooms.
