Words for Your World Writing Competition

Event providers: The University of Manchester

After last year’s fantastic Letters to a President writing competition, The University of Manchester are inviting pupils in years 9-13 to participate in ‘Words for Your World’.

The World Leaders had their say at COP26 – now have yours! Participate in the Humanitarian and Conflict Response Institute’s writing competition by writing a speech or letter, addressed to the UN, on the climate emergency.

The competition officially launched on 15 November, following the close of the COP 26 climate conference, and closes on Earth Day, 22 April 2022. The winners will receive book voucher prizes.

We are asking students in years 9-13 to write about their hopes, fears and calls to action surrounding the climate emergency, and crafting language and proposals that let us think about those subjects in new and impactful ways. We will be supporting the competition with creative writing and other workshops, details of which will be announced via the University’s website.
