The Maze of Media Makeup

Event providers: Salford City College

Explore various routes of Media Makeup with an interactive video tutorial where students will be able to choose their own path of the look they want to create. There will be a short teacher led introduction before they can all watch the tutorials independently. There are three categories to choose within the video, Fashion, Creative, and Special Effects that further lead to 6 various looks, 2 per category:

– Spring
– Summer
– Avant Garde
– Drag
Special Effects:
– Zombie
– Clown

Students can follow the tutorial to recreate the look on face chart paper which is used to explore different looks in the Media Makeup industry. Following the tutorial will enable students to learn techniques as well as add their own creative flair towards the end of the tutorial to make it their own. In addition to enabling students to practice on face chart paper, the video tutorial will be done on a person with references to replicating it on face chart paper so students can visualise how the design would look when applying to a person.

A resource box full of all the various Media Makeup tools will be provided that are required for all 6 looks, along with face chart paper to be able to replicate these looks. In addition, plastic slips for students to take their work home will be provided and the entire box will be sent to the school/college a minimum of 3 days in advance of the workshop taking place. Resource boxes will also contain anti-bacterial gel to be used frequently within the lesson for the added layer of security. In addition, you will be able to keep all the resources to use for creative lessons in the future.

It is recommended that students follow the tutorials in lessons independently on their mobile devices attached to WIFI to reduce contact within schools/colleges and make it personalised to their preference. You can also follow along via tablets, laptops or computers within lesson if available. If this requirement is not possible to be met, a final method would be the entire class following along the same tutorial on the board within the class and voting collectively if the other two options are not possible.
