Studying Physical Education, Biology, Sports Psychology and/or simply interested in learning what happens to your mind and body when moving around during exercise?

Join us for a sporty afternoon where you will have a tour of The Manchester College’s new state of the art Sports department and FIFA approved football pitch. Followed by the option to pick between four high intensity workshops discovering muscular contractions, neuromuscular activation, and electromyography.

These workshops will take theory from the classroom into practical activities and provide students with a deeper insight into body performance to help with their studies and get insight into HE student life. This can include performing the countermovement jump and analysing specific metrics to understand how these relate to performance whilst using force plates to assess athlete’s dynamic performance.

Workshop 1 – Variations in muscular contractions and their effects on neuromuscular activation through electromyography.

Workshop 2 – Exploring the countermovement jump and analysing specific metrics to understand how these relate to performance.

Workshop 3 – Sport psychology in action – taking theory from the classroom to practical activities on the pitch.

Workshop 4 – Testing power through force plates in different sports populations.

Students will be encouraged to wear their SCHOOL PE Kits, to represent your school.
