Six Rules for Study day
Event providers: Manchester Metropolitan University

This on-campus event is designed to support schools with improving attainment. It focuses on specific foundational principles for effective study, and builds on this through goal-determination work in order to link learning with future outcomes. The event is comprised of two workshops.
The first workshop, ‘6 Rules for Study’, guides learners through 6 key principles for effective self-directed learning: 1. Tidy your room 2. Take responsibility 3. Have a plan 4. Know what you don’t know 5. Learn from your mistakes 6. Remember your long-term goals.
Incorporating critical thinking and reflective tasks, this workshop promotes learners’ independence and agency, and encourages personal ownership of their learning.
The second workshop, ‘Take Aim: a Guide to Goal-Setting’ is based on rigorous psychological literature, and helps your learners understand the purpose of setting goals, to analyse goals in order to create a functional hierarchy, and to establish proximal and distal goals.
A tour of the University campus and lunch are included.
