Murder on the Lab Floor

Event providers: The University of Manchester

Event Fallback Image

Detective Simon Ence has been entrusted with investigating the death of Dr Victor Timothy – a lab scientist working at a local pharmaceutical company.

At first glance this looks like an unfortunate laboratory accident, but things are not as they seem, and before long it becomes clear that the ace detective requires the help of the North-West Police Scientific Support Team – YOU – to solve a very scientific murder…

Through various activities, students will learn about the biology of DNA, with a focus on its structure, its role in providing instructions for making proteins, and its importance in forensics and solving crimes. They will then apply this knowledge to determine whether the cleaner, the security guard, the lab manager or the pharmaceutical company CEO is responsible for the murder of Dr Victor Timothy, and determine their motive to solve the mystery and put the perpetrator behind bars.
