Mentoring is a proven to work due to the level of intensity, personalisation and relationship development involved. Our Go Further mentoring programme was developed in consultation with learners. It is informed by the DOTS decision-making methodology.

What does the project offer?

Go Further activities help to develop:

  • Transition skills
  • Study skills and revision techniques
  • Knowledge of post-16 options and HE pathways
  • Aspiration and positive attitude toward HE study

The  sessions cover the following topics:

  • Knowing me, knowing you (launch & induction)
  • Life after Y11
  • Courses and qualifications
  • Intro to HE
  • ATM – it’s All about The Money
  • Decisions, decisions
  • How to be an ace student
  • Moving on

Mentoring is most appropriate for learners who are open to finding out more about higher education and who have the potential to achieve at least five GCSEs at grade 4 or above and progress to higher education.
