Explore English

Event providers: University of Salford

During this event learners will explore how English is central to our experience as human beings and why the art of storytelling helps us to express ourselves and understand our position in the world.

In this workshop, then, participants will learn why we tell stories and how the study of stories—in their various guises—helps us to find meaning in our lives.

By using the mode of storytelling as the foundation of this event, participants will, through discussion, examples, and exercises, engage with the subjects of English Literature, English Language, Creative Writing, and Drama. In which case, the session will begin by establishing the value of stories—and, therefore, the value of English—before moving on to consider why the study of English is important in the twenty-first century.
