Event providers: University of Salford

Event Fallback Image

A widening participation outreach programme for schools to support art & design subject choice

Encounters aims to inspire students to take routes into higher education in the arts through creative workshops and inspirational encounters with artists and arts professionals. Through a dynamic programme of in-school workshops and city-wide field trips, selected students will gain creative thinking skills, visit amazing places, gain new knowledge about HE study, work with arts professionals and see their own possible futures in an ever growing sector.

Led by experienced artist Jack Brown with support from the University of Salford and GM Higher, this programme aims to promote the study of art and design at higher education level, as a means to entering the thriving creative industries in Greater Manchester.

See a summary video and visual record of previous school participation at the project’s microsite: https://encounters2018.wordpress.com/
