Choices Day – Y9 Campus Visit

Event providers: Greater Manchester Higher

This half-day campus experience helps learners understand key aspects of life and study in Higher Education (HE), whilst linking their futures in HE to GCSE choices which will be a key consideration for all Year 9 students. The visit includes a comprehensive information, advice and guidance (IAG) session, a campus tour and workshop activity.

Learners participate in activities so they can fulfil their potential. They will:

Identify key aspects of HE life and study
Examine key education pathways from Level 1 to Level 6
Demonstrate the impact of GCSE choices on future pathways

The campus visit works well as a stand-alone information and guidance experience or incorporated into programmes of GCSE guidance for Year 9 students.

Year group: 9

Group size: 30-90 (depending on institution)

Length: Half-day (approx. 9am-12.30pm, depending on institution)

Delivery method: In-person at one of the GM Higher HE institutions.

GM Higher will need to record the participation of learners in line with our funding requirements, so we will ask you to provide a register.

Once a booking for an activity has been taken the school or college agrees to the following:

i. To communicate any change in the number of attendees, giving as much notice as possible;

ii. To return any requests for information needed before an event including number of attendees, monitoring and evaluation data (free school meals, learners who are young carers and learners with disability) and dietary and medical requirements etc.

iii. To notify the host University if a visit is being cancelled within the time period set out in the cancellation policy.
