Career Connect – Being Your Best Self

The Be Your Best Self Programme is a motivational programme suitable for pupils in years 9 – 13. Through a series of 5 interactive workshops learners will engage, increase aspirations and build improve confidence, wellbeing and resilience  Increased confidence and resilience will be the foundation for students to consider a broader and more ambitious range of future Higher Education and career options.

This time-limited and purposeful programme will teach individuals the skills required to manage their own wellbeing and respond positively to challenging events in their lives. The programme will improve participants’ confidence and self-esteem. Through engagement with the programme individuals will develop positive thinking skills and a ‘can do,’ attitude, exploring new possibilities for themselves. The course will help participants to increase motivation and improve both their interpersonal skills and social awareness. All participants gain an increased knowledge of wellbeing and how to nurture positivity in their own lives.

The 5 sessions will support participants to become active in their own wellbeing and learn new skills to become mentally tough and increase resilience. Each week new tasks and challenges will be assigned to participants so they start putting steps to wellbeing and resilience in to practice in their everyday lives.

Sessions will incorporate action planning to help participants improve their current situation and overcome any barriers they experience in accessing HE.
