Building The Future: Digital technology in the construction industry

Event providers: University of Salford

Delivered in partnership with industry professionals this exciting two day programme aims to promote digital skills to students and showcase the exciting new technologies emerging in the Construction sector. These skills will be essential to the future productivity and collaboration within the sector and will be the future of working!

The project provides the opportunity to discover the construction industry by learning about the different roles available from the people currently in them. These professionals will demonstrate various digital technologies currently in use and bring the industry to life. Pupils will also get the chance to develop transferable skills relevant to the world of work and higher education through activites.

The project involves two parts. On day one, academics from the University of Salford will visit your school to introduce the construction sector and engage the students in a number of industry-based exercises involving digital technology. On day two, students will visit the University of Salford campus to experience the state-of-the-art technologies within the newly completed Science Engineering Environment (SEE) building. Activities on day two will culminate in a capacity-building exercise designed for the students to develop critical skills relevant to the world of work and higher education with an opportunity to win a grand prize.

We would particularly welcome expressions of interest for BAME students for this programme.  Timings for the visit can be discussed on expression of interest.
