Advanced Manufacturing
Event providers: University Campus Oldham

What is ‘lean manufacturing’? How long does the process take from aluminium sheets to building a Range Rover? Do robots take up most of the manufacturing process? These are all questions that are addressed during this workshop.
Morning:
During the morning, a guest speaker previously employed at Jaguar Land Rover will talk about their journey and learners also will have the chance to explore a ‘Kit Car’. In the afternoon, learners will take part in a manufacturing task and will be asked to think of the best ways to spend money on producing a top notch car with parts that will enable the car user to enhance their experience – set within a budget limit. Groups will present their ideas to the guest speaker and judges. Students will also get the chance to compete in a radio controlled car challenge.
This event is in collaboration with UCEN.
