Mentoring is a proven to work due to the level of intensity, personalisation and relationship development involved. Our Go Further mentoring programme was developed in consultation with learners. It is informed by the DOTS decision-making methodology.

A current HE student will come into your school to deliver a structured mentoring programme. The programme is delivered to a group of 8-10 learners over a 6-10 week period. Each session lasts 45 minutes – 1 hour, and ideally needs to take place in a quiet space with a whiteboard.

The programme can be adapted to suit the needs of your learners. The 6 core sessions cover the following topics:

  • Building relationships and setting the scene
  • Life after Y11
  • Intro to HE
  • Decision making
  • How to be an ace student
  • Reflection and next steps

The additional 4 sessions cover the following topics:

  • Self-awareness
  • Post-16 options
  • Student Finance and Student Life
  • Well-being
