The higher education provision at Tameside College is an integral part of the College’s mission and forms part of its institutional plan and strategic objectives. The higher education portfolio is small, but aims to enable local people to overcome barriers to higher level qualifications and study on vocationally relevant programmes. The College offers an encouraging and welcoming environment with extensive support targeted to helping students achieve their full potential. The College works closely with higher education Institutions and other awarding bodies, as well as working collaboratively with local and national employers and other stakeholders. The College ensures that the provision offered meets the priorities as identified by local and regional skills gaps. It also ensures that provision maintains the College’s standards in student-centred flexibility and responsiveness.

The curriculum offer is linked to a vision to develop and provide high quality, responsive programmes embedded in employability and widening participation. The College’s key focus is to: respond to the training needs of local people and businesses, improve student choice for progression for level 3 learners and equip local people with the skills to become lifelong learners.

The curriculum offer is largely at level 4 and 5 with a wide HNC/D portfolio.
