Forum Talent

Event date/s: Ongoing
Audience: Learners
Target Age Groups: Y9, Y10, Y11

Description

The `Forum Talent Potential` CPD process enables Career Leaders to address key parts of the National Careers Strategy:

`… work with subject teachers across the school so that careers provision is embedded within the curriculum`  (Gatsby benchmark 4)

`… offer every young person at least seven encounters with employers during their education` (Gatsby benchmark 5)

It equips Careers Leaders to plan, develop and share curriculum projects in partnership with local employers across clusters of schools, helping to make this activity self-sustaining and scale-able.

Training is based on use of a tried-and-tested six-step process that has been:

  • used as part of the Gatsby National Benchmarks Pilot by school sin the North East to demonstrate good practice in benchmarks 4 and 5
  • offered to across the East Midlands alongside a handful of other careers services as part of a £1.5m `Careers Local` programme
  • described as a `best practice` by the author of the Careers & Enterprise Company’s report on `Careers in the Curriculum: What works`
  • summarized in a Best practice article in a leading publication for secondary education: http://www.sec-ed.co.uk/best-practice/careers-and-the-curriculum/
